This month features a special two figure conversion set that has been in the making for a long time. I call this one "The Death of Davy Crockett" and it is based on a scene from John Wayne's Alamo movie. But what really motivated me to finish this set was our trip to San Antonio to see the REAL Alamo and visit Alamo Village in Brackettville which is the movie site used by John Wayne in his classic film. I was also invited by Nick and DeAnna Versteeg of Toy Soldiers of San Diego to display these prototypes, promote my latest CD and meet fellow collectors and customers at the 2nd Annual Texas Toy Soldier Show in downtown San Antonio. So I completed 4 prototypes which included 2 variations of Old Davy. Of course I kept one for my personal collection and took the other 3 to Texas. I could not think of a better place to debut these brand new conversions which resulted in all 3 sets being sold. I did 2 variations which involved changing the position of the left hand. The picture on the left has the left hand more like the movie version and the one on the right is a variation showing the left hand in a raised position.
