This month combines a brand new conversion set along with a few poses that I had previously designed. This new
set is one of my first attempts at having a cavalry trooper galloping while holding the reins to a second horse. Since
this can be used in a couple different ways I have not given this one an official name yet. This conversion involved
modifying the trooper's right hand in order to hold the reins. Then I carefully cut the reins which were molded to the
second horse, smoothed out the neck area and bent the reins over the horses head and put them in the troopers
right hand. I then connected the base of the 2 horses by attaching the corners with my cut; pin and soldering
technique to make the 2 horses all one piece. The idea of attaching the 2 horses was my initial thought and seemed
to be a good one. But with the attached corners being very delicate I reconsidered doing these as 2 separate pieces.
This change may benefit those guys who like to paint them since it will be easier to handle. The pictures in this
month's feature show my first attempt with the "attached bases".
In January 2008 I featured the "horse handler" dismounted cavalry conversion and then in October 2008 my
"mounted wounded cavalry trooper" conversion. Each of those poses when used with this new conversion set offer
collector's multiple scenario's for their Civil War dioramas. I get a lot of pleasure out of designing new conversion
poses however when you can use existing conversions with new ones then I am really pleased. I hope you enjoy the
pictures in this month's feature.
