American Revolutionary War: "Johnny Tremain"
American Revolutionary War: "Johnny Tremain"

As a kid, I was always glued to the TV set to watch all the Walt Disney shows. One of my favorites has been Johnny Tremain and the Sons of Liberty. So with that in mind I made this "one of a kind" figure for my personal collection. In addition, my recent trip to Fort Ticonderoga has inspired me to work on more American Revolution conversions for myself. Although I prefer to work with Conte "canadian" soft plastic 99.9% of the time, this conversion was a mixture of reissue and original marx plastics. Unfortunately, they were a real pain to solder and as previously stated--the results were "somewhat" OK but not up to my normal high standards. The top portion of "Johnny Tremain" was the reissue figure of Johnny in white plastic. The bottom leg portion as well as the right hand and rifle were from an original marx riding colonial and a running colonial with rifle. After cutting, pinning and soldering the parts together I gave the figure a primer coat of white Plasti-Dip. I let it dry overnight and then hand painted a special light blue color that was colored matched for me by my local Sherman Williams paint store. This "special light blue" is somewhere between the pale light blue that marx used in their civil war and rev war colonials and the remarx blue used for certain marx reissues. A few years back the Marxman (a toy soldier dealer) had a special run of Accurate British run is a light blue which I really liked. Since I use them as my American Regulars I am now doing all my rev war americans in this light blue color. I also have taken stock figures and repainted them in this light blue to make american artillery teams. Even though the Johnny Tremain figure was reissued with other character figures of that time period, that group still runs about $20. So for as least the time being, this will remain a "ONE OF A KIND". Hope you enjoy this picture and it inspires you to become involved in this wonderful hobby of figure conversions.
